Dr. Mandeep Kaur was born in January 1990 in Punjab, India. She
received her B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2012) degrees from Guru Nanak Dev
University (GNDU), Amritsar. She pursued her Ph.D. in Organometallic
Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur under the
supervision of Prof. Jitendra K. Bera. Her doctoral research focused
on “Organometallic Compounds Containing Functionalized Normal and
Mesoionic N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) Ligands: Directed Synthesis,
Catalytic Evaluation, and Antibacterial Activity.” Following her
Ph.D., she joined IISER Mohali (2020–2022) as a Postdoctoral Research
Fellow in the group of Prof. Sanjay Singh, where she applied her
expertise in air- and moisture-sensitive chemistry to develop Al- and
Mg-based catalysts for key organic transformations relevant to
sustainable catalysis. She then undertook a second postdoctoral
fellowship (2022–2024) at the University of Bath, UK, with Prof.
Ulrich Hintermair, where she served as a Research Associate. Her work
focused on detailed investigations into f-block (Y, Yb, Eu, Dy)
chemistry involving substituted petalenide ligands, contributing to a
deeper understanding of their reactivity and potential catalytic
applications.
In 2024, she returned to India and joined as an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Chemistry at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Her current research interests include the fundamental understanding
of organolanthanides, catalytic applications with mechanistic insight,
and the medicinal potential of organometallic complexes.
